30 x 30 and a No Buy

After a slightly insane June, with almost nonstop work and personal chaos/frivolity, I'm very much looking forward to hitting the reset button in July.  I've been pondering a 30 x 30 challenge, and a No Buy month is on my 101 in 1001, so I figured I may as well do them both at once.  Which might be insane, but we'll just have to see. The 30 x 30 means that for the next 30 days, I'll wear only the 30 pieces below (with some exclusions).  I am giving myself 2 swaps, as it's my first attempt at something like this and I'm not sure I chose the right types of items.  The No Buy is a little more self-explanatory.  Stop buying random stuff you don't need, Kyle.

30 x 30 List

Embroidered chambray
Pocket blouse
White u neck
White J Crew sweater
Black cardigan
Black v neck
Striped top
Blue ruffle neck
White boat neck - swapped with my chambray shirtdress

Red pants
Denim shorts
Dark jeans
Lavender pants - swapped for my white shorts
Windowpane skirt
Camel mini

T shirt dress
White/tan stripe
Black wrap dress
Floral shirtdress
Striped dress
Black tank maxi

Jack Rogers
New Balance
Black flats
Cognac wedges
Black sandals

Silver statement necklace
Black belt

The only things that I didn't include on the list were my outerwear, as I'm not sure what I'll need and it almost never counts as part of my outfits, my undergarments, gym clothes and the outfit I'll be wearing to a friends wedding later in the month.

My goal with this is to focus on what I have and how I can wear it.  I'm hoping that coupled with a no buy (including clothes, accessories, home stuff and beauty [other than replacements]), it will force me to turn off the part of my brain that looks for things that I need, and instead focus on what I already own.

  1. No-buys are awesome -- I did one in January and it is freeing to not really worry about what's in stores. Hitting reset is exactly the right way to describe it. It is like a cleanse without having to chug that weird spicy lemonade :) And the 30x30 is the perfect way to just love your closet. Can't wait to see how it works out!

    1. Cleanse with no spicy lemonade, I love it! Going well so far, but we'll see!

  2. I love seeing what other people put together in their capsules and 30x30 wardrobes. You should be able to put a ton of outfits together with this selection. I should probably consider doing the same, but I'm kinda lazy in the daily outfit photo department. Maybe I'll do it in the fall.

Best of luck in No Buy July!
